Position
Requirements:
Performs
maintenance and repair work on a multitude of electronic
devices and computer interfaced systems, including, but not limited to:
irrigation systems, egress systems, intrusion detection systems, closed
circuit televisions, and fire alarm/fire protection systems.
Performs
maintenance and repair work on radio transmission, receiving,
and repeating devices.
Performs
a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation,
maintenance, or repair of equipment/circuits including installation of
new wiring and conduit.
Performs
required programming through a computer interface and
modifies fire protection equipment to comply with National Fire
Protection Agency (NFPA) and the Life Safety Code.
Troubleshoots
electronic or electrical circuitry, at times without prior
knowledge of the system or manuals related to such systems.
Uses
mulitmeters, oscilloscopes, tone generators, transducer probes,
and other specialized test equipment related to electronics work using a
variety of electrician's hand tools.
Changes,
updates, or creates applicable programs for various alarm
systems using DOS and Windows operating systems.
Prepares
sketches of proposed work and assists in the design and
specifications of planned jobs or contracts.
Initiates
measures to improve methods, equipment performance and
quality of work.
Perform
periodic maintenance inspections of all equipment associated
with electrical systems and report all system discrepancies or
conditions to your Supervisor.
Complies
with all OSHA safety regulations and adhere to proper codes
and standards with a thorough understanding of safety procedures related
to Electrical Systems and Lock out/Tag out Procedures.
Utilizes
Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to identify chemical
characteristics.
Completes
Work Orders daily and accurately.
Initiates
material requisitions to order parts/materials needed for repairs.
Physical
Effort:
Mechanics
often lift, carry, and handle materials, tools and equipment
weighing up to 50 pounds for at least 30 feet and extended periods.
They
occasionally work in cramped and inconvenient surroundings
requiring manipulation of equipment in awkward positions for prolonged
periods.
Work
frequently requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing,
and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods.
Must
be able to ascend and descend on ladders of various heights.
Make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding or platforms
where parts of systems worked on are frequently in hard to reach places.
Working
Conditions:
Work
is accomplished both indoors and outdoors, all climates,
including working outside and on top of tall buildings, often exposed to
hot sun for extended periods of time.
Frequently
works in cramped spaces, hot/cold attic spaces, areas with
low overheads, and areas with hot/cold, oily, wet, and dusty surfaces.
May
be called in for off-hours emergency situations including weekends
and holidays. On-Call Duty rotation required, with company cell phone
provided when in a duty status.
Limited
work may be required in asbestos containing areas,
with company training and protective equipment provided.
Basic
Qualifications:
Mechanics
often lift, carry, and handle materials, tools and equipment
weighing up to 50 pounds.
Experience Required
A
minimum of 5 years experience relevant to the job description and
working conditions above.
Possess
an up-to-date and thorough understanding of codes and
regulations relating to the life safety code derived from NFPA, the NFC,
the NEC, the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC 3-600-02).
Knowledge
of software related to computer programmable systems,
including but not limited to the following manufacturers: FCI, Monaco,
Notifier, Edwards, IRRInet, Simplex, and Pyrotronics.
Intermediate
knowledge of AC and DC circuit theories, to include that
of power supply systems with integrated charging systems. and the
understanding of electronic components to include transistors, diodes,
SCR’s and integrated circuitry.
Education
Requirements
High
school diploma or equivalent.
License
and Certification Requirements
Valid
Florida driver's license.
Must
possess or be capable of possessing within 60-days of hire date,
bucket truck/man-lift equipment certification.
As
a minimum, a Level I NICET certification is required.
